The past; the place for which we recall memories, what some call experience, in essence, what shapes who we are. But for some people, the past is quicksand, and people fall into it, and never leave it. Whether good or bad, what has been done is just that, done. Nothing people say or do can change the finality of those experiences, thoughts, or actions.
The past is for learning from, to look back and to take from it all that is plausible. It is not for dwelling and considering the "what ifs" and "might have beens".
Motivations for things are also unnecessary. People lie, and why they lie doesn't really change the fact that they lied. If you know why they did it, would that justify them doing it? Most likely not, so why spend time asking such senseless questions? Is any reason for lying, a good one? Or cheating? Think about what all the fighting accomplishes.
People spend so much time trying to change the past, trying to pretend that things didn't happen, but in reality they really did. So people have to learn to swallow the past, and move forward, because no excuses or explanations will justify or alter what has already happened.
So think about it, are you thinking about tomorrow, or still thinking about yesterday? And if you are still stuck on the past, notice that no matter how much you think about it, it is still there, exactly as it happened.
