Before I tell you the story of being detained by the Chinese (and, like Taborlin the Great, I similarly did not have key, coin, or candle), I’ll share the video I made! I would have gotten even more footage had the quadcopter not been, ahem, confiscated… BTW, I recommend running the video in HD mode with earphones!

NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN PHOTOS OF THE BEATLES FROM RINGO STARR
Little remains unknown about the Beatles – they're one of the world's greatest rock and roll bands and have likely been photographed more times than Bieber and Britney combined.
But now Ringo Starr is unveiling more than 100 never-before-seen images of the Fab Four that he took during their '60s prime.

HOW TO CREATE AN UNFORGETTABLE PORTRAIT (video)
Celebrated photographer Nadav Kander has taken portraits of everyone from President Obama to Ricky Gervais and has also turned his eye toward directing. Here he talks to Co.Create about the art of simplicity, authenticity, and leaving things unseen.
London-based photographer Nadav Kander has won awards and international acclaim for his genre-spanning editorial, art and advertising work. Known especially for portraits and landscapes, Kander has conjured compelling stories from photographic subjects ranging from hotel rooms to China’s boundless Yangtze River (his series, Yangtze--The Long River was made into a book and earned the photographer the Prix Pictet in 2009). He has taken unforgettable photos of artists, celebrities, and politicians (including an acclaimed 52-portrait series Obama’s People) for newspapers and magazines, and his work has also been featured in art galleries, including the public collection at the National Portrait Gallery in London. In the last few years, Kander expanded his range further, moving into directing through production company Chelsea Pictures.

HOMELESS
Homeless was chosen the best environmental photo for 2011, a picture on which two children comfort each other in a scrap yard in Katmandu, Nepal. Ironically, photographer Chan Kwok Hung from Hong Kong gained such a big praise with such sad photography. He told the world the story about these two children who spend whole days in scrap yards in search for food. “They had found nothing for a few days,” Chan said in a statement. According to UNICEF, more than one third from 12.6 million children in Nepal lives below poverty line.

WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM KODAK'S DOWNFALL
The lesson of Eastman Kodak Co. is not that the company that invented the digital camera was blind to the fact that technology would annihilate its cash cow film business.
The lesson is that even seeing the oncoming train heading down the tracks doesn’t make avoiding it easy, said Scott D. Anthony.

TANGERINE TANGO: PANTONE 2012 COLOR OF THE YEAR
The 2012 color of the year, PANTONE 17-1463 TANGERINE TANGO, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

SLR LENS ADAPTERS FOR iPHONE ALLOW PRO PHOTOS
iPhone SLR Mount: $249 |
It seems fair to say that Apple's iPhone is at least as much a camera as it is a phone. It's no single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, however, which is where Photojojo's new iPhone SLR lens mount comes in. This new case-adapter combination lets users mount a Canon or Nikon SLR lens to the iPhone 4, turning the ubiquitous mobile device into the high-powered camera of every aspiring photographer's dreams.
