THE TALE OF THE BAMBOO

Once upon a time, in the heart of the Western Kingdom, lay a beautiful garden. And there, in the cool of the day, the Master of the garden was wont to walk. Of all the denizens of the garden, the most beautiful and most beloved was gracious and noble bamboo. Year after year, bamboo grew yet more noble and gracious, conscious of his Master’s love and watchful delight, but modest and gentle withal. And often when the wind came to revel in the garden, Bamboo would cast aside his grave stateliness, to dance and play right merrily, tossing and swaying and leaping and bowing in joyous abandon, leading the Great Dance of the garden, Which most delighted the Master’s heart.

THE COST OF A MIRACLE

Tess was a precocious eight year old when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn't have the money for the doctor bills and their house.

Only a very costly surgery could save Andrew now and it was looking like there was no one to loan them the money. She heard Daddy say to her tearful Mother with whispered desperation, "Only a miracle can save him now."

THE CLIMB

I can almost see it.
That dream I'm dreaming, but
There's a voice inside my head saying
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm takin'
Every move I make
Feels lost with no direction,
My faith is shakin'
But I gotta keep tryin'
Gotta keep my head held high

SLOW TRAIN COMING: BOB DYLAN MEETS JESUS (video)

Bob Dylan (born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, poet and painter. He has been a major figure in music for five decades and has had immense influence on popular music. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when he was an informal chronicler and a seemingly reluctant figurehead of social unrest. A number of his early songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'" became anthems for the US civil rights and anti-war movements. Leaving his initial base in the culture of folk music behind, Dylan proceeded to revolutionize perceptions of the limits of popular music in 1965 with the six-minute single "Like a Rolling Stone".

Couples began saying "I do" at midnight from Niagara Falls to Long Island, though New York City became the sometimes raucous center of action by daybreak Sunday as couples waited on a sweltering day for the chance to exchange vows at the city clerk's office.

PUNISHMENT FOR GIVING DONUTS AND BIBLE VERSE

Relentless. That’s how some might describe the Roswell Independent School District. That’s because the New Mexico system appears to be on a mission to squash the Word of God on its campuses, according to a lawsuit Liberty Counsel filed.

The suit alleges the Roswell Independent School District retaliated against a Christian group called Relentless, punishing and suspending its members for buying and giving fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts with Bible verses to each of their teachers.

ARAB HUMOR

Dear Abah,

Berlin is wonderful, people are nice and I really like it here, but Dad, I am a bit ashamed to arrive at my college with my pure-gold Ferrari 599GTB when all my teachers and many fellow students travel by train.

Your son,

JEWISH HUMOR

This is such a story:

Moshe was sitting at the bar staring at his drink when a large, trouble-making biker steps up next to him, grabs his drink and gulps it down in one swig and menacingly says, "Thanks Jew Boy, whatcha going to do about it?"

Moshe burst into tears.

STRENGTH AND COURAGE

It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubts.

It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend’s pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.

SLR LENS ADAPTERS FOR iPHONE ALLOW PRO PHOTOS

iPhone SLR Mount: $249

It seems fair to say that Apple's iPhone is at least as much a camera as it is a phone. It's no single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, however, which is where Photojojo's new iPhone SLR lens mount comes in. This new case-adapter combination lets users mount a Canon or Nikon SLR lens to the iPhone 4, turning the ubiquitous mobile device into the high-powered camera of every aspiring photographer's dreams.

CARMAGEDDON: WORKING TOGETHER TOWARD SOLUTION

Interstate 405 is currently being widened in a 10-mile stretch through the Sepulveda Pass between I-10 and Ventura Boulevard, along with adding a new carpool lane and reconstructing the Mulholland Bridge. This project will require the freeway to be completely closed from Friday evening, July 15, through early Monday morning July 18, 2011, so demolition work on the Mulholland Bridge can be done.

Local radio DJs and television newscasts have referred to the shut down as "Carmageddon," a neologism for the event parodying the notion of Armageddon, and "Carpocalypse," a neologism parodying the notion of the Apocalypse. JetBlue seized on the freeway closure as a marketing and promotion opportunity, offering flights between the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank and the Long Beach Airport, a distance of only 29 mi (47 km), for $4.

There was in a certain city a harbor where ships from all over the world would come and dock. However, the harbor was in between a treacherous and rocky shore. During stormy nights, ships would see the city lights off in the distance and head toward the lights hoping to find refuge from the pounding surf.

FILM AMERIKA BELUM KEMBALI KE BIOSKOP DI INDONESIA

Baiklah. Penonton Indonesia rindu film-film produksi studio besar Hollywood anggota Motion Pictures Association (MPA).

“Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man.

“Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?

“That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.

“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy.

5 MOST DANGEROUS GADGETS IN OUR LIFE

We can't live without our gadgets. But can we live with them? Maybe not for long. The 21st century devices we've come to consider members of the family may be doing us more harm than good. In the case of cellular devices, the dangers could be fatal.

That's the concern raised by Nobel Prize winning toxicologist Dr. Devra Davis. She researched controversial studies on the connection between brain cancer and cellular usage in her new book Disconnected, and discovered a very real threat being posed to our health.

IRANIAN PASTOR FACES BRUTAL CHOICE: REJECT CHRISTIAN FAITH OR DIE

A U.S. State Department official expressed outrage and pressed Iran to reverse a court decision that gives an Iranian pastor an outrageous, and suicidal, choice: Reject his Christian faith, or die.

The 32-year-old pastor, Yosef Nadarkhani, was arrested in October 2009 for apostasy because he objected to the teaching of Islam to Christian children at Iranian schools. He was sentenced to death by hanging late last year, a verdict that he appealed to Iran’s Supreme Court.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

On my way home from coaching basketball yesterday, I was listening to WGN; my favorite talk radio station out of Chicago. I could tell right away that there was something wrong by the somber mood of the speaker.

There had been a plane crash. Two small planes collided into each other over a northern suburb of Chicago. What made the story hit close to home was that Bob Collins, the morning show man for WGN, was the pilot of one of the planes and had been killed. (I’m sure that many readers have tuned in “Uncle Bobby” on their car radios in the Midwest.)

THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

A CALL FROM GOD

This story involves a pastor of a storefront church. The pastor’s church is called The Almighty God Tabernacle.

On a Saturday night not long ago, this pastor was working late, and decided to call his wife before he left for home. It was about 10:00 PM, but his wife didn’t answer the phone. The pastor let it ring many times. He thought it was odd that she didn’t answer, but decided to wrap up a few things and try again in a few minutes.

One day his entire squadron was sent on a mission. After he was airborne, he looked at his fuel gauge and realized that someone had forgotten to top off his fuel tank. He would not have enough fuel to complete his mission and get back to his ship. His flight leader told him to return to the carrier.

A GLASS OF MILK (TRUE STORY)

One day, a poor boy, who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you? "You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said... "Then I thank you from my heart."
