WHICH VEGETABLES HAVE THE MOST PROTEIN

Vegetables aren't typically known for being a great source of protein, but there are some sneaky ones out there that contain a decent amount—so we asked Emily Gilbert, R.D., for the best plant-based ways to get this essential nutrient.

Something important to keep in mind: "Plant proteins are 'incomplete' proteins, meaning they don't contain all of the essential amino acids," says Gilbert. To make sure you get the different types of amino acids you need, make sure to combine these veggies with whole grains.

12 FOODS FOR DIABETIC PERSON

We all know that maintaining a healthy diet is vital in terms of diabetes prevention and treatment. Generally, the advice given to diabetics is relevant to the general population as well: consume adequate vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, poultry and fish, and less industrial sweets and foods high in fat and salt. It is known that patients who use professional advice and expert dieticians and nutritional supervision have a much better chance to maintain balanced levels of sugar, and avoid the complications of the disease. Diabetics should also keep meals at regular times throughout the day to avoid sharp rises in blood sugar levels.

CHILLI BURNS AND MILK SOOTHE THE PAINS

Whether it’s a few flakes on a pizza or the spiciest vindaloo known to humankind, most people can tolerate or even enjoy the tingling, burning sensation chilli can bring.

So how does chilli deliver its sting? And why is it that milk can take the edge off a spicy meal, while water doesn’t work as well?

Our senses of taste and smell are collectively known as the chemosenses; they detect certain chemicals in the environment.

NEW MEDICATION FOR BALDNESS

The first thing Brian H. noticed was that he could grow a real beard. It had been years since that had been possible, years he spent bedeviled by hair loss on his head, face, arms and legs.

Brian, 34, who asked that his last name be withheld to protect his privacy, suffers from alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease afflicting about 1 percent of men and women, causing hair to fall out, often all over the body. He believes that the “mangy patches” of baldness that have plagued him since his 20s have cost him jobs and relationships.

After trying various treatments, Brian enrolled this year in a study at Columbia University Medical Center testing whether a drug approved for a bone marrow disorder could help people with alopecia. One of the study’s leaders, Angela Christiano, is a dermatology professor and geneticist who herself has alopecia areata.

THE LONG LOST GUITAR SOLO OF GEORGE HARRISON IN "HERE COMES THE SUN" (video)

Here Comes the Sun — it’s one of George Harrison’s contributions to Abbey Road (1969). And, among the many great Beatles’ songs, it’s my sentimental favorite. While we’re feeling sentimental, let me bring you this — Dhani Harrison, the son of the late guitarist, returns to the recording studio (presumably at Abbey Road) with George Martin, the Beatles’ legendary producer, and Martin’s son Giles. Together, they play with the mix of “Here Comes the Sun,” and then the wondrous little moment of discovery happens. They stumble upon the long lost guitar solo that never made the final cut. Enjoy….

HOW LONG WE HAVE TO TAKE A NAP FOR OUR BIGGEST BRAIN BENEFITS (video)

Taking a nap, we’ve seen time and again, is like rebooting your brain.  Everyone likes to get a quick nap in every now and then, but napping may be as much of an art as it is a science. The Wall Street Journal offers recommendations for planning your perfect nap, including how long to nap and when.

The sleep experts in the article say a 10-to-20-minute power nap gives you the best “bang for your buck,” but depending on what you want the nap to do for you, other durations might be ideal.  For a quick boost of alertness, experts say a 10-to-20-minute power nap is adequate for getting back to work in a pinch.

MATHEMATICAL EQUATION AS FORMULA FOR HAPPINESS (video)

What makes people happy? Finding a definitive answer to this question could certainly make someone very rich (butwhether that would in turn make them happy is another matter). The problem is that happiness is especially slippery. While we know much about the consequences of happiness – that it can improve our health and well-being and how we get on in the world – much less in known about its causes, let alone how to guarantee its appearance.

Making happiness a goal, for example, often has counter-productive consequences that ultimately lead to less happiness overall. Finding happiness is, for many, akin to divining water: when we do find it we are often at a loss to explain how it happened.

HOW TO KEEP MOSQUITOS AWAY (video)

The summer is such a wonderful time to be outside enjoying life, but if you live anywhere near trees, you know that mosquitoes can sometimes get the best of you! Nothing drives a person inside faster than a horde of hungry mosquitoes that just won’t quit!

I’m also not a big fan of chemical bug spray – I don’t like the idea of spraying that stuff on myself, my kids, or even my pets! I’ve always wondered if there was an effective way to keep the bugs away without the possibility of chemicals seeping our clothes and skin – and you know what? I think I’ve found it!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE YOUR LIFE HARDER

http://themindunleashed.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/justinnn-1050x700.jpg

“Life is not complex.  We are complex.  Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing.” (Oscar Wilde)

When we were young life was easier, right?  I know sometimes it seems that way.  But the truth is life still is easy.  It always will be.  The only difference is we’re older, and the older we get, the harder we make things for ourselves.

You see, when we were young we saw the world through simple, hopeful eyes.  We knew what we wanted and we had no biases or concealed agendas.  We liked people who smiled.  We avoided people who frowned.  We ate when we were hungry, drank when we were thirsty, and slept when we were tired.

A GHOST IN THE FAMOUS PICASSO PAINTING

Picasso's "the blue room"

Pablo Picasso's famous painting of a bathing woman in a blue room carries a secret: High-tech scans have revealed that the well-known scene was painted on top of a portrait of an unidentified man.

Conservators here at the Phillips Collection used infrared imaging to virtually peel back the paint of the artist's famous 1901 painting "The Blue Room"; underneath, they discovered a portrait of a man in a bow tie, resting his head on his arm. Live Science visited the collection for a behind-the-scenes look at how the discovery was made.

THE STORY OF A POOR MAN AND A VASE

Once upon a time, there was an unfortunate poor man. His home was also very poor – a small and empty house, where mice made their nests and spiders made their webs. People tried to avoid coming into his house – why should they stick their noses into those poor ruins? And the poor man thought that poverty is the reason of his misfortunes – his eternal destiny.

So once, the poor man met a wizard and complained to him about his poverty and miserable life.

The wizard felt sorry for the poor man and gave him an unprecedented vase and said, “This is a magical vase that will save you from poverty.”

The poor man took the vase and wanted to sell it at first and then spend the money on alcohol, as usual, besides, why would he need such a beautiful thing?
