WHAT WE'RE GONNA TALK

Just like in a cafe, we talk about everything. Nothing heavy. Just talk over a cup of coffee.

BETWEEN THE ALLIGATOR AND THE MOTHER

Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

DEPRESSED PEOPLE MAY AGE FASTER

People suffering from depression may be aging faster than other people, according to a new study from the Netherlands.

In the study of about 1,900 people who had major depressive disorders at some point during their lives, along with 500 people who had not had depression, researchers measured the length of cell structures called telomeres, which are "caps" at the end of chromosomes that protect the DNA during cell division. Normally, telomeres shorten slightly each time cells divide, and their length is thought to be an index of a cell's aging.

THE SHARK AND THE SMALL FISH

During a research experiment a marine biologist placed a shark into a large holding tank and then released several small bait fish into the tank.

As you would expect, the shark quickly swam around the tank, attacked and ate the smaller fish.

The marine biologist then inserted a strong piece of clear fiberglass into the tank, creating two separate partitions. She then put the shark on one side of the fiberglass and a new set of bait fish on the other.

TEXTING CAUSE DISCONNECT BETWEEN COUPLES

Most couples have arguments from time to time, but it is not always a face-to-face battle. Many people use text messages to work out differences rather than talking to their partners. And this, researchers say, can cause committed couples to disconnect.

According to CTIA-The Wireless Association, there were around 2.19 trillion text messages sent in the US alone throughout 2012, the equivalent of 171.3 billion every month.

REASONS TO DRINK LEMON WATER

People tend to reach for the warm beverages in the morning like tea and coffee, but try and start your day with some warm lemon water. The water does not have to be always warm, but it should be purified. Simply use a half fresh lemon per large glass of water or even to taste and sip through the day. On a simple level, fresh lemons take plain old water up a notch. Here are some health benefits of drinking lemon water that elevates drinking it for reasons beyond just taste.

FOUR APPLES

A teacher teaching Maths to seven-year-old Arnav asked him, "If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?

"Within a few seconds Arnav replied confidently, "Four!"

The dismayed teacher was expecting an effortless correct answer (three). She was disappointed. "Maybe the child did not listen properly," she thought. She repeated, "Arnav, listen carefully.. If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?"

7 WAYS TO BOOST YOUR LIVER FUNCTIONS

Drink plenty of lemon water
Try to drink between 8- 10 glasses of filtered, pure water every day. It is the only way your liver can drive toxins out of your body. Better yet, start every day with a large glass of water with the fresh juice of one to one half lemon added. Lemon helps bolster your liver’s detoxification abilities. The citric acid in lemon juice encourages the liver to produce bile, one more vehicle that your body uses to excrete toxins.

Eat cruciferous vegetables
Eat plenty of liver rebuilding foods, such as leafy greens, beets, carrots, cabbage, kale, arugula, collard greens and other veggies.

THE FAVOR BANK

‘What is this Favour Bank?’

‘It was an American writer who first mentioned it. It’s the most powerful bank in the world, and you’ll find it in every sphere of life.’

‘What favours could I do for anyone?’

‘That doesn’t matter in the least. Let me give you an example: I know that one day, you’ll be very influential. I know this because, like you, I too was once ambitious, independent, honest. I no longer have the energy I once had, but I want to help you because I can’t or don’t want to grind to a halt just yet.

A TALE OF A CROW

Once there was a crow. It had a burning desire of looking to be more beautiful. The crow lived in a big Banyan tree, where a number of peacocks also lived.

It saw the beautiful plumes of the peacocks and cherished a desire to look like one of them. It often cursed itself for being ugly. It scorned the whole crow community being black and ugly. It had an ambition to improve like a peacock so that the people may praise it.

STRUCK BY LIGHTNING TWICE AND .... SURVIVE

The odds of being struck by lightning in a lifetime are about 1 in 6,250, according to the National Weather Service. By being struck twice, 31-year-old Casey Wagner beat far greater odds.

The man, who was at an off-road competition in North Texas over the weekend, was standing under a tree when he was hit by lightning twice in close succession, he told KTVT-TV.
“What I remember is just a loud boom and it dropped me to my knees and then it hit me again,” Wagner told the station. “When I got hit, it was just two big ol’ flashes and then sparks went everywhere.”

THE RETURN OF NEIL GAIMAN'S SANDMAN

For many readers, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman was their introduction not only to the ethereal world of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, but the medium of comics itself. Long celebrated as a “gateway” drug for new readers—including many female readers—Sandman remains one of the few comics ever to make its way onto the New York Times bestseller list. This October, the series is returning to comic book shops with a brand-new story–or rather, an old one, called Sandman: Overture.

“There is one Sandman story that I never got to tell… what happened just before [the first bound collection] Preludes and Nocturnes began,” said Gaiman at Comic-Con International last weekend. In the very first issue of the series, we learned that Morpheus—aka
