HE DISAPPEARED INTO THIN AIR

It was a beautiful autumn day and I had just gotten out of school. My cousin lived with me at the time and she was taking my friends and me home. At the corner of the street, where it is very hard to see around the bushes, my cousin pulled out and a huge van hit us. I was in the front passenger seat and that is where the van hit us going well over the speed limit. Nobody would stop and help us and I was the only one stuck in the car. I was pinned between the two captain chairs but thankfully I was wearing my seat belt or I would have flown out of the car.

INNER RESEARCH

When was the last time you sat down with yourself for a good assessment of your life? Don't we all need to know where we've been, how the changes we made in the past are affecting us today, where we want to be in the future and what aspects of our personal style are standing in our way of moving forward towards the life we really want to live?

THE BEAUTY OF LIFE

The beauty of life I miss when my thoughts race in an unsteady haste

Is worrying about problems the solution or is it only that I am making waste?

Taking what I have for granted instead of appreciating the good in life that awaits

Do I not take notice of the kindness others show or do I dwell on past experiences that arise which bring about the hates

I BELIEVE

I believe we are here to make a remarkable difference in the world, through living our lives in harmony and connecting with others respectfully.

I believe we can't confront the formidable task of life unaccompanied, we need the guidance and acceptance of those who care about us and are willing to stand by us.

A study published in The Lancet medical journal on Friday showed those with demanding jobs and little freedom to make decisions are 23 per cent more likely to experience a heart attack compared to their less-stressed counterparts.

LET'S LEARN FROM THE WORLD'S UGLIEST WOMAN

Born with a medical condition so rare that just two other people in the world are thought to have it, Velasquez has no adipose tissue and cannot create muscle, store energy, or gain weight. She has zero percent body fat and weighs just 60 pounds.

In the comments on YouTube, viewers called her "it" and "monster" and encouraged her to kill herself. Instead, Velasquez set four goals: To become a motivational speaker, to publish a book, to graduate college, and to build a family and a career for herself.

STUDY: FISH OIL PILLS NOT THE ANSWER FOR HEART HEALTH

Fish oil pillsOmega-3 fatty acids, found in oily fish such as sardines and salmon and once touted as a way of staving off heart disease and stroke, don't help after all, according to a Greek study.

Based on a review and analysis of previous clinical trials including more than 68,000 participants, Greek researchers whose report appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association said the fatty acids have no impact on overall death rates, deaths from heart disease, or strokes and heart attacks.

MIDDLE-AGE FITNESS' BENEFITS

Americans are living longer, with our average life expectancy now surpassing 78 years, up from less than 74 years in 1980. But we are not necessarily living better. The incidence of a variety of chronic diseases, like diabetes and heart disease, has also been growing dramatically, particularly among people who are not yet elderly.

It also marked the start of her two years as a Thinspo girl, during which the 160cm tall Secondary Four student dropped from a healthy 53 kg to an emaciated 42 kg by self starvation and in the process developed depression before finally being diagnosed as bulimic.

MAGIC CUTOFF

CRIMES OF THE HEART

Crimes of the heart cause us great injury. Hurt feelings, harsh words, nasty misunderstandings leave deep imprints in our minds and hearts. We dwell on the cruel and unkind violations against us. Letting go of anger about things that have occurred in the past is difficult and sometimes feels insurmountable. We get stuck and hold on to our anger, and the wounds grow deeper and fester. The pain keeps us from finding peace within ourselves. When is it time to let go?

It is time to let go when holding on to the anger no longer serves us. When carrying the burden of our

I was told a story about a lady in the hospital who was near death when an area chaplain came to visit her. This chaplain was a very young female with long blond hair. She listened to the lady who was ill and left her a small gift for comfort. It was a tiny ceramic frog.

The next day one of the people from the ladies church came to visit. The lady told her friend about the beautiful young chaplain who had come to visit her.

OBAMA PLAYS TO WIN, IN POLITICS AND EVERYTHING ELSE

As Election Day approaches, President Obama is sharing a few important things about himself. He has mentioned more than once in recent weeks that he cooks “a really mean chili.” He has impressive musical pitch, he told an Iowa audience. He is “a surprisingly good pool player,” he informed an interviewer — not to mention (though he does) a doodler of unusual skill.

GINGER FOR HEALTH MAINTENANCE

If your mother gave you ginger ale to relieve a stomachache, I’ll bet you thought it was the fact that it made you burp that helped. The burping effect of ginger ale might be one reason you felt better, but the main reason is the curative properties of ginger, one of the ingredients. Ginger has the ability to absorb some of the toxins and acid in the stomach and neutralize them. It also increases the digestive fluids.

LIFE IS LIKE A PUZZLE

dot to dot connectionAs children we all played with those "connect the dots" puzzles. We would trace along the numbers from 1 to 2 to 3 ...until suddenly a picture appeared. It always amazed me that when it was just a page of hapless numbers, I was unable to see what it was meant to be and even as I traced along through the numbers, the meaning of the picture often remained a mystery until the end. The odd thing is, once the picture appeared, it was easy to see the outline and I would wonder why I hadn't been able to guess it earlier.

12 SEPTEMBER: IPHONE 5

It's official: the iPhone 5 will be unveiled Sept. 12. Apple sent teaser invitations to the event Tuesday, with the shadow from the number "12" forming the number "5" — an obvious reference to the next release of the company's popular smartphone. The invite includes the headline, "It's almost here."

The Sept. 12 iPhone 5 event has previously been reported by a number of media outlets that cited anonymous sources.

SPICES WORK BETTER THAN ASPIRIN TO STOP BLOOD CLOTS

Spicing up your life a bit might also reduce the potential for thrombosis. This doesn’t mean that you need to go to the Playboy mansion. It’s not that type of spicing. The use of spices may work far better than the aspirin a day recommended by many doctors. It also may be safer for your stomach than aspirin and better for your health than many of the blood thinners prescribed by physicians.

The body’s repair system forms clots as a mechanism to prevent bleeding to death in the event of an injury. The body sends signals

BREAKER 1-9, IS ANYONE THERE ... TALK TO TEDDY BEAR

I was on the outskirts of a little Southern town, trying to reach my destination before the sun went down. The old CB was blaring away on channel 1-9, when there came a little boy's voice on the radio line. He said, "Breaker 1-9, is anyone there? Come on back, truckers, and talk to Teddy Bear."

I keyed the mike and said, "You got it, Teddy Bear."

THE TREASURE LIFE

Yesterday I was on my way to picking up my children. I was remembering someone I lost and the pain it caused me.

MITT ROMNEY'S "TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" STORY

It’s been said by the Democrats that Mitt Romney is a murderer, felon, and tax cheat. Democrats have also maintained that Bain Capital is all about making money and destroying the little guy. As it is with Liberals, there are no facts to back up the allegations. People are supposed to believe them because the Democrats say they’re true. Here’s a story about Mitt Romney that’s been fact checked.

“In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had
